ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has ordered deployment of army troops in Jhelum to control the law and order situation. The minister has taken serious notice of the law and order situation in Jhelum and said no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. The minister said Pakistan Army troops will fulfil their legal and constitutional responsibilities under the guidance of the Punjab government to restore peace in Jhelum and prevent any untoward incident. On instructions of the minister, army contingents have been deployed in Jhelum city to avert any untoward incident and the eruption of violence in the city in the wake of protests relating to the blasphemy issue. Meanwhile, expressing displeasure over the deporting of Pakistanis from foreign countries, Chaudhry Nisar termed it the humiliation of humanity and an embarrassment for Pakistanis. The minister said that foreign countries used to show an inhuman attitude to deported people and undermined the self-respect of deported Pakistanis. He said the foreign authorities while deporting Pakistanis from their respective countries not only bypass all legalities but also abandon bilateral agreements. The minister said the performance of some Pakistani embassies in foreign countries is very poor and bleak and a formal report is being forwarded to the prime minister regarding this grave issue. “We cannot accept people from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Myanmar and India as Pakistanis for having Pakistani documents gained through ill-gotten means,” he said. In a letter to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Interior Ministry made it clear that the IOM should first seek a clearance report from the Ministry of Interior before deporting Pakistani immigrants from foreign countries. The content of the letter further read that during last few weeks, scores of Pakistanis were deported without attestation and in violation of rules by European countries and particularly from Greece. The ministry pinpointed that only those people should be deported to Pakistan whose nationality status has been verified from the Interior Ministry. Similar instructions were conveyed to all airlines operating from foreign countries to Pakistan to obey the immigration laws of Pakistan and if the airlines did not follow the laws of Pakistan, they would be penalised and fined for this violation. Nisar will held a detailed meeting with a delegation chaired by the Commissioner European Union for Migration on 23rd November and all these issues relating to the deportation of Pakistanis will be discussed. The minister taking notice on the ineffective immigration control system for passengers moving in private planes at airports all over the country directed the FIA on Saturday to devise an explicit and systematic immigration control system at airports for all those passengers who fly in private planes. He said it is imperative and compulsory for each and every passenger, irrespective of their influence and status, to go through the immigration process while flying abroad or inland from all airports of the county. The minister also made it clear that in case of illegal usage by private airline to its landing and flying schedules, the Civil Aviation Authority will be directed to cancel flying permission of that particular private airline. On instructions of the Interior Ministry, the city district government of Islamabad while taking notice of pre-poll rigging allegations of the PTI leadership sought evidence from the PTI leadership.
