Over 1,000 candidates file papers
for reserved seats at Chakwal

CHAKWAL: More than 1,000 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the reserved seats of District Council, six municipal committees and 71 union councils here in the district.
The Election Commission of Pakistan will hold elections on the reserved seats across Punjab on November 8, on District Councils and municipal corporations’ seats on November 10 and elections will be held for reserved seats in union councils on November 12. As many as 43 candidates have filed nomination papers for 24 reserved seats in the District Council Chakwal while 21 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 15 reserved seats, six candidates filed nomination papers for three peasant seats, four candidates filed papers for one technocrat seat, six candidates submitted papers for one youth seat and six candidates filed papers for four minority seats. Total 16 returning officers have been notified to hold the elections at Chakwal district. The scrutiny of nomination papers will start from October 17 and will complete next day. The final list of the candidates with election symbols will be displayed on October 24. DCO Mahmood Javed Bhatti has been appointed as the District Returning Officer and he will supervise the elections.
