World White Cane Day observed

BAHAWALPUR: The World White Cane Day was observed with great respect here in Bahawalpur Division on Saturday.
In this connection, the Pakistan Blinds Association Bahawalpur chapter organised a function in which PBA Bahawalpur chapter president Prof Rana Hadi Hussain distributed white canes among the blinds of the area. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of the day and asked the PBA members to help blinds to make them educated. The Social Welfare Department also arranged a function at the District Council Hall to mark the day as well as encourage the blinds of the area. The blind boys also presented national songs. The White Cane Day was also observed at Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalnagar and many other cities of Bahawalpur Division.
Inter students protest against poor marking

BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of intermediate part I students staged a demonstration at DPO Office Chowk against the BISE Bahawalpur for wrong and poor marking in their papers.
The students blocked traffic at the chowk for many hours by erecting hurdles and chanted slogans against the board authorities. They were demanding remarking of their papers. AC City Rao Tasleem tried to negotiate with the protesting students but they refused to talk. Later, the students postponed their protest till Monday. Meanwhile, the intermediate part I students also protested at Khanpur, Ahmadpur East, Chishtian, Bahawalnagar and other cities of Bahawalpur Division.
Man, minor son killed in accident

BAHAWALPUR: A man and his minor son were killed while two others sustained injuries in an accident near Zaheerabad Adda on Saturday.
A speeding coach collided with a motorbike on Chishtian-Bahawalnagar Road. As a result, Rab Nawaz and his minor son Zeeshan died on the spot while Rab Nawaz’s wife and her relative also sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to the DHQ Hospital Bahawalnagar.
CONGO FEVER: A Congo fever suspect patient was admitted to the Congo Isolation Ward of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital on Friday night.
Muhammad Abid of Chak Abdullah, Bahawalnagar district, was admitted to the ward by the hospital’s administration. Talking to The News, focal person for BVH Dr Amir Mehmood Bokhari said that blood samples of the suspect patient had been sent to Islamabad for confirmation of Congo virus.
