Sindh notifies Rs14,000 per month minimum wage

The Sindh government issued a notification on Friday for prescribing and notifying the minimum wages for unskilled adult and juvenile workers employed by the industrial and commercial establishments in the province.

The government has set Rs540 per day and Rs14,000 monthly wage for both adult unskilled and juvenile workers.

The notification to this effect was issued by the provincial labour and human resource department of.

The notification was issued on recommendation of the Sindh Minimum Wages Board made under the provisions of Section 4 of the Sindh Minimum Wages Act, 2015.

The notification red that all industrial, commercial, and other establishments registered under any law should pay wages to the employees through cross cheque or bank transfer.

“Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1)(a) of Sindh Minimum Wages Act 2015, the Government of Sindh is pleased to declare that the minimum rates of wages for unskilled adult and juvenile workers employed in all the industrial/commercial establishments in Sindh shall be as given in the schedule appended to these recommendations with effect from 1st July, 2016,” the notification read.

“The recommended rate shall be applicable to time rated/whole time workers including temporary piece rated workers with effect from the date of notification by the Government of Sindh of these recommendations under Section 6 of the Sindh Minimum Wages Act, 2016.  “The workers shall continue to enjoy such facilities like free accommodation/house-rent, water, electricity, conveyance, free medical aid, gratuity, pension, bonus, any kind of insurance, provident fund, recreation, free food, subsidised food, education, holidays, and leave with pay, attendance allowance, and any other benefit already provided by the employers.”
