PML-N MNA terms plaza construction anti-public project

GUJRANWALA: PML-N MNA Barrister Usman Ibrahim Thursday said construction of a commercial plaza on the place of old railway station building and a mosque is an anti-public project.
In a letter to Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq, the MNA urged the railway ministry to drop the project and make the old railway station functional.
He said the traders and citizens were protesting the plan of demolition of old railway station and the mosque.
He said the halting of pick and drop facility of passengers at the old station was protested by the business community in the past and this thing was discussed with you (Saad) by him and then you permitted renovation of the station building, but a plaza has now been proposed at the site. Usman said I strongly support the demand of the residents of Gujranwala to resume the functioning of old station after its renovation. He said the cost of its renovation can be met out from funds allocated to NA-95.
Usman said the proposed plaza can be constructed at Gujranwala city Railway Station that is commercially viable proposition. In the letter, he said the mosque should not be demolished.
LOCALS ROBBED OF CASH, VALUABLES: Locals were robbed of cash, gold ornaments, vehicles and other valuables on Thursday.
In Ahmadnagar police area, gunmen intercepted Ansar and snatched Rs 27,000 and a cell phone. In Alipur Chattha police limits bandits snatched Rs 32,000 and two cell phones. Waqas was deprived of Rs 34,000 and a cell phone in Sadar Kamoke police area. In Noshera Virkan bandits snatched Rs 21,000 and a cell phone from Sardar Ali.
Bandits took away Rs 23,000 and two cell phones from Abdul Majeed in Tatle Wali.
At Eminabad Qamar was deprived of Rs 22,000 and three cell phones.
In Sadar Gujranwala police limits gunmen snatched Rs 7,000, a new motorcycle and a cell phone from Hameed.
New motorcycles of Farasat, Abid and Yousaf were stolen from different places.
