SUKKUR: Seven people, including two children and two women, died while a dozen sustained injuries when the roof of a house collapsed in Khairpur on Sunday.
Reports said that people had been sitting on the roof of a house witnessing a mourning procession of the 25th of Muharram which passed through a lane near the house. Just as the procession went past the house, the roof collapsed. Scouts and some volunteers pulled out the injured buried under the debris of the house and shifted them to the Khairpur Hospital where seven of the injured died.
Reports said that the victims included a scout who had been helping the injured people. Meanwhile, the chief minister of Sindh has taken notice of the incident and ordered a report. He also ordered the authorities to provide free medical treatment to the injured.
