KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has reduced the number of junior players attending the training camp to 26 ahead of the Sultan of Johor Cup, which will be held in the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru from October 31 to November 6.
The training camp of Pakistan under-21 hockey players has been in progress in Lahore’s Johar Town Hockey Stadium under the supervision of head coach Tahir Zaman.
Originally 35 boys were selected, who had been training since September 22.
For the final phase of the camp, PHF officials decided to reduce the number of trainees. The number of players attending the camp has been reduced after the approval of the national chief selector Abdul Rasheed Jr.
The camp will resume on October 14.
Prior to the camp, these shortlisted boys will be considered for the three-match series between the national juniors and the seniors.
These matches are to be played from October 8-10 in Lahore.

Goalkeepers: Ali Raza, Talal Khalid, Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
Full-backs: Atif Mushtaq, Hussain Anwar, Mubashar Ali, Zahidullah. Half-backs: Abu Bakar Mahmood, Faizan, Junaid Kamal, M Usman, Tazeemul Hasan, M Adnan, Ammad Shakeel Butt.
Forwards: Shan Irshad, Azfar Yaqoob, M Dilber, M Atiq, Bilal Qadir, Mohsin Sabir, Rana Sohail Riaz, Samiullah, M Rizwan, M Naveed, Fahadullah Khan, Umar Hamdi.
