ISLAMABAD: Telenor Pakistan on Friday officially launched 4G services in eight cities in the first phase, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Quetta, Swat, Faisalabad, and Peshawar.
The company said it had already invested $3 to $5 billion in the country, and planned to invest more in the coming months. The company also launched 4G enabling mobile handsets.
“We are a law abiding entity, and taking all steps in accordance with Pakistani laws,” the Chief Marketing Officer of Telenor Pakistan, Bilal Kazmi said. The Telenor Pakistan high-ups stated that the mobile handsets were not locked and could be used with all SIMs.
He said the 4G services were launched in six districts, and would be expanded to 23 districts and almost 70 cities by 2017.
Kasmi said that Telenor officially launched its 4G services along with the new range of Telenor-branded 4G smartphones and 4G mobile broadband devices. The company had won the technology-neutral 850 MHz spectrum license earlier this year and announced the launch of 4G services.
The new range of handsets that Telenor unveiled at the ceremony are called ‘Infinity’ and come in three models, Infinity a, Infinity e, and Infinity i. All three handsets are powerful 4G enabled devices featuring Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS, stunning IPS display, powerful quad core processor, reliable memory, advanced front and back cameras, and long lasting battery.
The handsets cost Rs13,000, Rs9,500, and Rs7,500 respectively, and come with three months of free voice and data bundles along with 12 months warranty for all customers.
The 4G mobile broadband devices launched at the event include 4G Hotspot Wingle and 4G Hotspot Mobile Wi-Fi. Both devices deliver blazing fast 4G speeds with 3G and 2G fall back options.
The 4G Hotspot Wingle can connect up to 10 devices, while 4G Hotspot Mobile Wi-Fi can connect up to 16 devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, and LEDs. The cost is Rs2,000 for 4G Hotspot Wingle and Rs3,000 for 4G Hotspot Mobile Wi-Fi.
“We are already Pakistan’s favourite digital lifestyle partner, and the launch of best-in-class 4G services, will help us deliver even better services to our customers,” said Kazmi.
