Industrialists asked to pay tax

SIALKOT: Federal Tax Ombudsman Abdul Rauf Chaudhry has asked industrialists and exporters to pay their taxes worth billions of rupees to make the country prosperous.
He said this while addressing the local industrialists and exporters at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) here on Wednesday. Abdul Rauf Chaudhry said that non-payment of taxes was affecting the industrial activity. On the directives of PM Nawaz Sharif, all the Income Tax and the Sales Tax refund claims would be disposed off by the end of October or in early November this year, he informed. Commenting on the withholding tax, he said that the 18th constitutional amendment had enabled the provinces to levy taxes on service sectors, but with the consultation with the provincial governments all the issues causing problems for the exporters would be resolved soon. He said that he was fully aware of the problems being faced by the business community. He said that it was the prime duty of the FTO to take all the measures to solve the problems and issues face by the taxpayers. Senior Adviser to FTO Abdul Khaliq, acting SCCI president Sh Adnan Sethi, VP Mian Imran Akbar, Ajmal Mughal, Muhammad Waseem, Asim Shafiq, Muhammad Ibrahim, Dr Aslam Dar, Ahmed Zulfiqar Hayat, Ejaz Khokhar, Malik Naseer Ahmed, Aftab Nagra advocate and others were also present.
