Demands withdrawal of ‘fake’ cases against Gilani, release of Hamid Saeed

MULTAN: The Pakistan People’s Party Human Rights Wing south Punjab office-bearers have demanded withdrawal of alleged fake cases against former PM Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and release of former federal minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi from jail.
Addressing a protest meeting at the residence of Malik Ishaq Bhutta here on Tuesday, PPP HR Wing south Punjab ex-president Salimur Rehman Mayo claimed that fake cases were registered against former premier Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi. He alleged that the present government had launched the character assassination campaign against the PPP leaders to defame them. He claimed that the Panama Leaks had exposed corruption of the rulers but no institution took any action against them. The PPP Human Rights Wing office-bearers, including PPP former ticket holder Chaudhry Muhammad Hussain Arian, Malik Bashir, Talib Haideri, Ijaz Shah and Tariq Zia Ansari, demanded accountability of the rulers. They said that former minister Hamid Saeed was politically victimised in the Haj scandal.
Infant dies thru ‘negligence’ of doctors in Multan hospital

MULTAN: An infant died through the alleged negligence of doctors at the Multan Children Complex on Monday night.
Muhammad Kashif, a resident of Bahawalpur, brought his child to the Multan Children Complex but the doctors on duty allegedly did not attend him properly. Consequently, the infant died. On Tuesday, the family members staged a demonstration against the doctors and chanted slogans against them. Kashif alleged that the doctors remained busy on internet and chatting with colleagues. He further alleged that they did not make efforts to save the life of his son.
When contacted, Multan Children Complex Medical Superintendent Dr Shahid Bukhari said that they were probing the matter. He said that stern action would be taken against the doctors in the light of the inquiry report.
