SUKKUR: The President of Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT), Ayaz Latif Palijo, has said that he welcomes the restoration of the Awami Tehreek (AT) and gives due respect to his father, Rasool Bux Palijo, who happens to be his political mentor also.
However, Ayaz Latif Palijo said that he was being punished for talking against the PPP and “anti-Sindh projects like Zulfikarabad”. This he said at a press conference at his house in Qasimabad on Monday.
“Rasool Bux Palijo is my father and political mentor. I respect him a lot. He has spent his entire life in struggle. “The QAT is a registered party. It is registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), with a symbol and a flag and having a manifesto,” he added.
Ayaz said his party would help the Awami Tehreek and invited them to join the QAT in its struggle against “anti-Sindh projects like Zulfikarabad”. “I was told to speak against the PPP but not to take any action against it,” he said.
Palijo announced a protest rally against Zulfikarabad on October 23 from Moro. Senior politician and intellectual Rasool Bux Palijo had announced parting of ways with the Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) and restoration of Awami Tehreek at a press conference on Sunday.
“The party directly or indirectly has been hijacked by Ayaz Latif Palijo, and it is not working according to its manifesto. I reject the QAT and restore the AT. Now our paths are different from Ayaz Latif Palijo and his friends, and we have nothing to do with his party and its policies,” the senior politician had said. He had also said that the AT would carry on its activities regarding all the burning issues of Sindh, including water crisis, finance, employment and natural resources.
