74 processions declared top sensitive in Jhang

JHANG: Police Sunday finalised arrangements to provide 464 processions and 1,624 Majalis with foolproof security. These processions and Majalis will be held in tehsils Jhang, Shorkot, Ahmedpur Sial and 18 Hazari during Muharram.
DPO Humayun Masood during a media briefing said 74 out of total 464 processions have been declared top sensitive and 198 out of total 1,624 Majalis have been declared top sensitive due to security point of view that would be monitored by CCTV cameras. The DPO said a comprehensive security plan had been devised. He said over 2,000 cops including SPs, DSPs, SHOs, SIS, ASIs have been deployed for Muharram security duty while CCTV cameras, metal detectors and walk through gates would also be installed on main and sensitive processions routes and Majalis areas. He said with the coordination of TMA, Fesco and PTCL, all necessary arrangements have also been finalised to ensure clearance of all processions routes besides extending coordination with health department and rescue 1122 for first aid and other medical emergency. He said extra-ordinary security measures would be taken on Muharram 5’s top sensitive procession that will be brought out from Satellite Town, 7th Muharram procession from Jhang City, 9th and 10th Muharram top sensitive processions will be brought out from Imambargah Gohr Shah. The DPO shared that combing operations are being carried out in different areas of the district on daily basis, adding police volunteers are also being trained at District Police Lines so that the shortage of cops could be overcome. Humayun Masood said distribution of hate material and wall chalking will never be tolerated. “No one will be allowed to deliver hate speeches against the other schools of thought and the violators will be punished as per law,” he warned. He said security of political and religious personalities who were on the hit-list of terrorists have been boosted up and they were requested to curtail their movements during the month. He appealed to the media persons to get confirmed any news before releasing to avoid panic during sensitive situation of Muharram. Later, along with the ADC/ Administrator TMA Awais Malik, the DPO inspected the different Muharram routes.
