MCCI chief for south Punjab share in CPEC

MULTAN: Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry newly-elected president Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi has said that south Punjab is ignored in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the federal and Punjab governments will be approached to get due share of the region.
Addressing the MCCI annual general meeting here on Friday, he chalked out his priorities for the year 2016-17 with the focus on the CPEC because the region was one of the remotest areas. He said that the world was facing economic turmoil but still Pakistan had attractions for investors. Appreciating the government and security forces’ efforts for elimination of terrorism across the country, he paid tributes to the security forces. He said that the present government’s policies on law and order brought relief to the business community. He said that a peaceful society was needed for swift business activities. Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that the chamber would focus on promotion of small and medium industrial units in the region, besides strengthening cultural activities. He said that he had talked to the Punjab secretary for culture and youth affairs for promotion of cultural activities in south Punjab. The chamber would also focus on the Multan Walled City Project, he added. He said that the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority would be approached to allocate projects for women entrepreneurs. He said that the chamber would make efforts for allocation of special packages for the women uplift. MCCI outgoing president Farid Mughis Sheikh also spoke on the occasion.
