Justice-seeking widow attempts suicide outside CPO Office

GUJRANWALA: A justice-seeking widow attempted suicide by jumping from a water tank in front of the CPO Office here on Friday.

Kausar of Sehnsara Goraya alleged that she gave Rs 400,000 to Patwari Shafiq Shah for business. When she demanded her amount, Shafiq allegedly gave her a fake cheque and a case was registered against him by Jinnah Road police. She alleged the police were not taking any action against the accused to recover the amount. She claimed that she had submitted applications to the CPO and DCO offices in this regard but to no avail.

 

Accused sent to jail on judicial remand

GUJRANWALA: Judicial Magistrate Nuzhat Jabeen on Friday sent an accused to the jail on judicial remand in a case of tearing record of the Nandipur power project. Police produced accused Balqiaz Khan before the judge and requested for four-day extension in his physical remand. The judge, however, sent the accused to the jail on judicial remand.

 

Three alleged dacoits killed in encounter

GUJRANWALA: Three alleged dacoits were killed in a police encounter at Baghbanpura.

According to police, three dacoits snatched a motorcycle and cash from Owais. On information, the police rushed to the spot and started chasing the dacoits. Seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire on them. The police also retaliated. As a result, three dacoits identified as Noman, Moazzam and Irfan died on the spot. The police have recovered two pistols and a rifle from the scene.

Wardens, students thrash each other

GUJRANWALA: Traffic wardens and college students thrashed each other at Canal Bridge on Thursday.

Kamran, Nadeem and Muzamil were going on a motorcycle when Warden Qamar stopped them and issued a challan ticket. It led to an exchange of hot words between them. The accused students also thrashed the warden. On information other wardens also gathered there and they allegedly thrashed the students. Later, the accused students were handed over to Satellite Town police.
