Indian aggression against Pakistan
PPP wants APC or joint sitting of parliament in three days
KARACHI: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has demanded that the government should either convene a joint session of parliament or an all parties’ conference within three days to take into confidence the entire political leadership on external threats to the country.
Speaking at a press conference along with other leaders of Pakistan People's Party here on Thursday night at the PPP media cell, the opposition leader said that in case the government didn’t convene the APC on the issue of Indian aggression against the country, then the PPP would itself convene such an all parties’ conference. He said that India had been continuously issuing controversial statements to create a situation of confrontation but the armed forces of Pakistan were fully capable of defending the country. Khursheed Shah said that Pakistan never wanted to wage a war as dialogue, instead of war, could provide a solution to problems. But in case India waged a war against Pakistan, then we will fight in all the dire circumstances, he said.
The opposition leader said that India had been maintaining an aggressive attitude towards Pakistan, which was facing serious challenges. He said the government was under obligation to get the entire nation and political parties united for tackling these challenges. It is also a responsibility of the government to take into confidence the entire nation and make it united as Pakistan is dearer to us more than our own lives, he said.
Khursheed Shah said that the Indians, by violating the Line of Control in Kashmir, had done an unfortunate act. He said that India had been constantly conspiring against Pakistan. These conspiracies are meant to divert the attention of the international community away from the situation in the Indian-held Kashmir.
He said that India had been resorting to brazen violence in occupied Kashmir besides committing terrorism and violating the resolutions of the UNO. "The United Nations should take cognizance of the uncalled for steps taken by India." He said that India had also tried to do water terrorism through its threat to scrap the Indus Waters Treaty.
He said the PPP would be on the forefront of the struggle to save the State. He said the nation was also under obligation to get fully united to face the Indian aggression. He said that Indians in the past too had levelled allegations, linking Pakistan with similar incidents but India had failed to provide evidence to prove its allegations. India has been resorting to escalate the situation on the borders and also levelling allegations in order to cover up its failures. He said that India should desist from adopting the warpath as in case it launched a war against Pakistan, then it had to face serious consequences as the Pakistani nation and armed forces know well how to defend the country. He said the government should convene an APC to get the nation united on the issue in order to send out the message that the entire Pakistani nation, political leadership, government, people, and armed forces were fully ready and prepared to defend the country.
In case the government didn’t convene the APC, then the PPP would convene an all parties’ conference in order to devise the future strategy to tackle the situation after consulting the national leadership.
Also speaking on the occasion, PPP's Central Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira said that India should not deem the peaceful stance adopted by the country as a weakness of Pakistan to tackle the situation.
He said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been unduly escalating the situation but the institutions and the Pakistani nation were fully ready to defend the country. He said the PPP had always rendered sacrifices for democracy in Pakistan as once again Pakistan People's Party had become active to give India a stern message on the behalf of the entire Pakistani nation.
He also paid rich tributes to two armymen who were martyred in aggression by the Indian forces across the Line of Control. To a question, he said that Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf didn’t take the PPP into confidence on his decision to march on Raiwind near Lahore. Khursheed Shah said that the Raiwind march was a political situation created by the Tehreek-e-Insaf. “The PTI should better know what do in such a situation.”
