FCCI for extension in income tax returns filing date
From Our Correspondent
FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) president Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz has demanded extension of at least one month for filing income tax returns.
In a statement here on Thursday, he said that most of the businessmen had gone to perform Haj while elections of different trade bodies were also held during September and businessmen remained busy in electioneering of their colleagues. Therefore, it was not possible for them to file income tax returns, he added. He demanded the FBR immediately extend the date for filing income tax returns.
BRICK LINING OF WATERCOURSES: FCCI Standing Committee on Horticulture and Agriculture chairman Khalid Shah has demanded immediate brick lining of all watercourses to save precious irrigation water.
In a statement here on Thursday, he said that food security was totally dependent on the farmers, who were facing multiple socio-economic problems. Despite announcement of the historic Kisan package, its fruits could not be disseminated to the farmers and hence, they were forced to protest on roads, he added. He said that it was a hard fact that 40 per cent canal water was wasted due to the seepage in unlined canals and watercourses. He said that the government had earlier launched a programme to brick line watercourses with equity of 20/80. “It is very tragic that due to the slump in market and high cost of agriculture inputs, the farmers are financially unable to pay the cost,” he added. He termed the wastage of water as national loss and said that the government should immediately brick line all the remaining watercourses at its own expenses.
