MPA’s son, impersonator booked

BAHAWALPUR: Cantonment police on Thursday registered a case against PML-N MPA Malik Khalid Mehmood Babar Warran’s son Naeem Khalid Warran and impersonator Umar Farooq Bhutta under Section 3/4 of the Punjab Universities and Boards Malpractice Amended Act 1999 on the complaint of Government Sadiq Dane High School matric examination centre superintendent Ghulam Yaseen.
According to the FIR, the superintendent reported that Umer Farooq Bhutta allegedly appeared in Islamic Studies paper in place of Naeem Khalid Warran, the real candidate, who was allotted roll No 490136 by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Bahawalpur for supplementary examination.
Although the police have arrested impersonator, but no action has so far been taken against Naeem Warran.
When contacted, SHO Amir Ghauri said that the superintendent had lodged an FIR against impersonator Umer Farooq and they had arrested him. Now, the BISE authorities would take action against the candidate, he added.
He said that the police produced the impersonator in a court, which sent him to the jail on a judicial remand.
