Court dismisses appeal
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed appeal of Jamatud Dawa Chief Hafiz Saeed against a decision of a single bench on a petition seeking directions for the federal government to highlight the Kashmir issue at the international forum.
A division bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh ruled that the appeal was not maintainable.A K Dogar, the counsel for Hafiz Saeed, had argued that innocent people were being killed in Kashmir and the international community was not aware of it. He stated that Indian forces were committing huge atrocities, and just in two months, more than 100 people were killed and thousands tortured and left injured. He said the federal government was not taking the issue as it should have taken. He argued that Kashmir issue must be taken up before the international organisations. He said people wanted to know what was happening there and it was their basic right to know about it. He said the single bench dismissed his petition holding that it consisted on political question. He said the court held the Kashmir issue was not justiciable and fell within the domain of political question.
