SHC summons LB secretary for not complying with orders
The Sindh High Court on Tuesday took exception over non-compliance of court orders and summoned the local bodies secretary to appear before the court and submit an explanation.
The court was hearing the petition of Munir Ahmed who had moved the court for his promotion in the local bodies department.
The petitioner submitted that he was promoted in 2012 but his promotion was rescinded after one month.
The court on previous hearing had ordered local bodies authorities to consider the case of promotion, however, no steps were taken by the authorities.
Taking notice of non-compliance of the court’s order, the court observed that no department was willing to comply with the court orders, instead passing the buck to each others.
Warning the officials of contempt proceedings, the court directed the local bodies secretary to appear before the court on October 6 along with an explanation.
School teachers’ plea
The Sindh High Court dismissed petitions against non-appointment of primary and secondary school teachers, directing the petitioners to apply for fresh appointments.
Petitioners Masood Ahmed and others submitted that they had qualified for primary, secondary and junior school teachers after passing written tests and interviews in 2012, but they were not being issued the offer letters.
The additional advocate general opposed the petitions, submitting that the process of appointment had been completed since 2008 and it would not be possible to accommodate the petitioners.
He submitted that the Sindh chief minister had granted relaxation to people of age up to 15 years and the petitioners could apply for the next process on a merit.
Dismissing the petitions for laches, the court directed the petitioners to apply for the next process of appointment, stating that if they were found eligible for job then they may be considered on a priority basis so that they could be accommodated against some vacancies in accordance with the law.
Notice to civil aviation
The court also issued notice to civil aviation authorities and others on application of employees of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) against their non-regularisation.
The petitioners submitted that they were appointed in 2007, but they were not being regularised despite the court orders.
