JHANG: DPO Humayun Masood has said that police have finalised a security plan to maintain law and order in Muharram.
Addressing a meeting of the District Peace Committee at the Police Lines here on Monday, he said that an emergency control room had been established in his office which would work from Muharram 1. He said that terrorists had no religion and their target was only to cause loss of life and property.
Under the security plan, leaves of all police personnel had been cancelled for Muharram, he added. He said that additional force of Special Branch, Elite Force, Punjab Constabulary, CTD, Rangers and Pak Army would be deployed to ensure security. The DPO said that all processions would be monitored through CCTV cameras. No vehicle would be allowed to park within 200 yards of Imambargahs, he added. He said that no one would be allowed to stand on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings situated on the routes of the main mourning procession. The DPO stressed the need for religious harmony and asked the DPC to cooperate with the administration for maintenance of law and order during Muharram.
