MANCHESTER: The chief of British armed forces, Sir Nicholas Carter, has lavished praise on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, saying that he is the best military commander in the world.
Talking to a private TV channel, he lauded General Raheel, saying he is one of his good friends. He said Pakistan’s sacrifices in the continuing war against terrorism are commendable. He said whatever General Raheel is doing is impressive. Carter said General Raheel is respected everywhere in the world.
Carter said that a close relationship existed between the armies of Britain and Pakistan in the war against terrorism. He paid rich tributes to the sacrifices of Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism, adding that Pakistan is fighting the war against terrorism in a difficult situation.
Replying to a query regarding the heightened situation at the Indo-Pakistan border, the British general was non-committal, saying the leaderships on both sides of border are extremely capable and they will go for the best option avoiding to escalate the situation.
