Dacoits loot jewellery shop, injure four in Multan

MULTAN: Six dacoits looted a jewellery shop and injured four shopkeepers on resistance at Samijabad on Wednesday.

Six dacoits riding two motorcycles entered the jewellery shop of Rana Bashir Ahmad and looted gold ornaments. They also injured four people, including Shahzad and shop owner’s son Kamran. According to witnesses, one robber was wearing a mask while five others were without mask. The shop owner’s son, Kamran, said that the robbers took away gold ornaments worth Rs 40 million. He claimed that the dacoits remained in the shop for about 18 minutes. Meanwhile, the traders staged a demonstration against the police for allegedly reaching the crime scene late. They also closed their shops and chanted slogans against the police.

When contacted, acting City Police Officer Dr Rizwan Ahmad claimed that the incident took place at 2:20pm while a police party led by an inspector reached the spot at 2:24pm. He said that the police were assessing loss of the jeweller. Dr Rizwan Ahmad said the jewellery shop was placed in the list of sensitive shops. The shop owner had been issued a notice for poor security arrangements about eight months ago, he added. He said that the CIA special team was collecting forensic evidences and finger prints. He said that the robbers would soon be arrested.
