Protest against Sahiwal, Pakpattan lawyers
access to LHC principal seat
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Multan Bench lawyers on Tuesday observed a complete strike against the decision of allowing the Sahiwal and Pakpattan bar associations to also file their cases with the LHC principal seat.
Expressing solidarity with the LHC Multan Bar Association, lawyers of the district bar association also boycotted the courts.
Addressing a protest meeting, MHCBA president Sheikh Jamshed Hayat alleged that it was part of a plan to detach Sahiwal and Pakpattan districts from the LHC Multan Bench. “The decision would not be acceptable at any cost. This is a conspiracy against the LHC Multan Bench to reduce its size and finally abolish it.” He said the lawyers would not allow further exploitation of the people of south Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, District Bar Association president Azimul Haq Pirzada said that they were with the lawyers of the LHC Multan Bench. He said the DBA would take part in the movement against the decision. He said the lawyers were united over the issue. He said the DBA would hold a lawyers’ convention for creation of a separate province comprising south Punjab districts.
