LAHORE: Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Peerzada has said the Prime Minister has sanctioned a grant of Rs200 million for the PHF for the uplift of the national game.
The government is taking keen interest in the revival of hockey, he said while speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the Pakistan-Oman U18 hockey series at national hockey stadium here on Tuesday.
He said the funds would be transferred to PHF kitty in a few days.
The government is endeavouring for foreign teams’ visits to Pakistan, the minister said.
He said due to the ongoing military operation against terrorists the security situation is improving with each passing day.
The situation is becoming conducive to hold international sports events in Pakistan, he said. “We are confident that more foreign teams will be visiting Pakistan in due course of time,” he added.
Also present on the occasion were President PHF Brig (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and Secretary Shahbaz Ahmad.
