Teachers play a significant role in a nation’s progress. It is worth mentioning that, while we can still find numerous teachers and scholars who are dedicated, unfortunately there are many of those who have hijacked the ideology and philosophy of education.
It is time for the government to realise the gravity of the situation and make real changes in the hiring criteria of teachers. In this regard, the prime job of the government should be to re-evaluate the selection procedure and make it transparent and up to international standards. Teachers should also be provided adequate incentives and privileges. The reality is that all other efforts of the government to reform education in the country will go down the drain until teachers learn to do their job with devotion.
