ASI gets pre-arrest bail in murder case

JHANG: ASI Akhtar Diraj of Muradwala police, who was nominated in the murder case of father of a maid, got pre-arrest bail from a local court here on Sunday.
After issuance of medico legal certificate of the deceased’s injured wife, the investigation officer of the case added relevant sections in the already lodged FIR, but did not include the names of lady doctor and her ADC husband where poor labourer family was allegedly tortured. The ASI had allegedly tortured maid Mehk, her father Azam and mother Safia in a theft case, but later Azam died. Later, City and Kotwali police raided a private hospital and recovered the dead body of Azam and injured girl and her mother. The police arrested other accused but allegedly allowed ASI Akhtar to escape from the crime scene. The police had logged FIR No 686/16 under sections 302, 148 and 149 against four accused, including the ASI. Meanwhile, DSP City Saifullah Bhatti told reporters that IO sub-inspector Ikhlaq Naul was investigating the case on merit and ASI Akhtar had obtained pre-arrest bail from a local court.
