SWABI: The Anjuman-i-Tajiran, Swabi city, on Sunday announced that they would observe a complete shutter down strike from Wednesday in the district headquarters against the imposition of fines by the district administration.
The business community held a four-hour long gathering to discuss their problems. The meeting was presided over by their president Laiq Khan.Laiq Khan told reporters that they had taken a unanimous decision and all the markets in the district headquarters would remain close as a protest from Wednesday.
He said the strike would continue till the authorities withdraw what he termed unjust fines. He said that prices of some commodities like rice, pulses and others have increased but officials did not issue the price lists.
Liaq Khan added that the markets would remain completely closed and the public and private transport would not be allowed to pass through Karnal Sher Khan Chowk during the strike.Karnal Sher Khan Chowk is situated at junction point and the transport plying Swabi-Mardan, Swabi-Topi, Swabi-Maneri and Swabi-Buner roads pass through it. Muhammad Ali, general secretary of the traders union, said that the district administration officials imposed huge fines, which many traders cannot afford to pay.
