Protest against police for arresting trader

GUJRANWALA: Dozens of shopkeepers on Saturday staged a demonstration against the Civil Lines police for arresting a trader.
The protesters gathered in front of the Civil Lines police station and chanted slogans against the police for arresting trader Adnan Khan from Landa Bazaar in a brawl case. They said that Adnan Khan was not involved in any quarrel incident and alleged that the SHO misused his powers by threatening him. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
ENTRY OF 33 ULEMA BANNED: DCO Muhammad Amir Jan on Saturday banned the entry of 33 Ulema and Zakirs in the district for three months to ensure the peace.
As many as 11 Ulema and Zakirs were also banned to deliver speeches at religious gatherings across the district.
5 FALL UNCONSCIOUS AFTER TAKING POISONOUS MEAL: Five women of a family fell unconscious after taking poisonous meal here on Saturday.
Reportedly, Ghulam Zuhra, Farhat, Attiya, Sania and Asia, residents of Sheikhupura Road, took poisonous food and fell unconscious. They were rushed to the DHQ Hospital by a Rescue 1122 team.
