Several suspects arrested

GUJRANWALA: Police and law enforcement agencies have arrested dozens of suspects during search operations in different villages of Gujranwala.

According to a police press release, police conducted search operations at Wahndo, Kali Soba, Qazi Kot, and Kotli Nawab and arrested dozens of suspects, including two proclaimed offenders identified as Nafees and Murativ, who were involved in robbery incidents. Police also recovered illegal arms from the suspects.

LOCALS ROBBED OF CASH, VALUABLES: Locals were deprived of cash, gold ornaments, cell phones, vehicles and other valuables in various incidents in different areas of Gujranwala.

At Ladhewala Warraich, bandits snatched Rs 17,000 and two cell phones from Ashraf.

Qaisar was deprived of Rs 15,000 and a cell phone in Sadar Gujranwala area.

In Sabzi Mandi police station limits, gunmen took away Rs 25,000 and three cell phones from Bilal. Dacoits snatched Rs 10,000 and a cell phone from Saleem in Satellite Town area.

A car (LEM-15) of Husnain was stolen from Sadar police station limit.

Thieves stole new motorcycle of Jabbar from Sadar Kamoke area. Thieves took away gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from the houses of Jehangir, Ashiq, Suleman and Ashraf form different parts of the city.

BAN ON ROASTING OF TROTTERS FLOUTED: The ban of roasting trotters of sacrificial animals was flouted in the city during Eid days. Earlier, the DCO Gujranwala imposed section 144 regarding roasting of heads and trotters of sacrificial animals in the city It was observed that shopkeepers and other people roasted trotters in the open in different localities with apparent impunity.

Whereas the DCO had directed TMA officers and other officials to ensure implementation on the ban, but reportedly no action was taken by the officials in this regard.

WASTE OF SACRIFICIAL ANIMALS: Big heaps of waste and offal of sacrificial animals were witnessed at different places despite big claims of cleanliness of the Waste Management Company during Eid days.

Apparently, there was no arrangement to remove the waste. The locals of Pasrur Road, Dhulley, Fareed Town, Goband Garh, Noshera Road and other areas are upset due to such heaps of waste. The sanitary officials were seen active during Eid days only on important roads, ignoring inner parts of the city.

STOMACH-RELATED TROUBLES: A large number of people visited hospitals and other healthcare centres with complaints of stomach-related problems for overeating the meat during the Eid holidays.

Reportedly, the DHQ Hospital Gujranwala received over 300 patients with complaints of blood pressure, uric acid and stomach problems while most of the patients were later sent to home with the advice to avoid eating excessive meat.

 

MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT

GUJRANWALA: A man died in a road accident on GT Road near DC Colony, Gujranwala.

Reportedly, Abdullah and Farooq were moving in a car when their car overturned owing to speed, leaving both of them injured. They were rushed to the DHQ hospital where Abdullah died.
