Lahore Zoo’s security tightened

LAHORE: Punjab Wildlife and Parks Director General Khalid Ayaz has said special arrangements have been finalised for the protection of visitors at Lahore Zoo during Eidul Azha holidays.

Talking to the media during his visit to Lahore Zoo to check security arrangements for the visitors, he appealed the visitors to cooperate with security staff to ensure foolproof security. Director, Lahore Zoo, Shafqat Ali and Deputy Director Headquarters Muhammad Naeem were present.

Khalid Ayaz said six walkthrough gates including four at Shaarey Quaid-e-Azam and two at Lawrence Road gate have been installed while eight metal detectors have been given to the security staff for manual checking.

He said for the convenience of handicapped, old and sick persons, six wheelchairs have been made available at both the gates of the zoo. Khalid Ayaz said to cope with the rush of visitors, additional ticket booths would be set up. He said an additional staff has also been deputed at the zoo.

He said important telephone numbers have been displayed at prominent places to facilitate people in case of any emergency. He said to ensure security measures special branch staff would remain present at the zoo during Eid holidays.  The DG visited cafeteria of the zoo and checked the prices and expiry dates of the eatables.
