Fair assessment

Sixty-nine years have passed since Pakistan was created. We have been celebrating our national day for 69 years. But have we looked at what we gained and what we lost? Political instability and hostile politics have always paved the way for military rule in Pakistan. We have a similar situation these days. Pakistan has been in the grip of severe challenges such as terrorism, extremism, fanaticism, energy crises, power shortage, unemployment, law and order situation, religious sectarianism and corruption amongst which terrorism, power shortage and unemployment are the most serious ones. All those politicians who are against the government have taken their turn to rule the country but did nothing. Instead of useless arguments on the Panama leaks, corruption, loadshedding and other major issues, parliament ought to be used for legislation, comprehensive economic planning, sketching defence strategies, framing foreign policies and devising ways and means to eliminate corruption, loadshedding and unemployment.

The present government has been elected through a general election and it has the constitutional right to complete its tenure. Let PTI chief Imran Khan and other politicians wait for the next general elections. If someone were to neutrally and impartially assess the performance of the present PML-N government, they have been pretty successful in fulfilling promises. If we compare the performance of the present government with previous ones, the PML-N is remarkably serious about solving the problems of Pakistan. This is not the time for bitter criticism. Today’s Pakistan demands that all political leaders join hands with the government to take the country out of the crises it faces.
