Conference on emerging trends in S&T ends at FJWU

Rawalpindi: With the technological and scientific advancements of the current world there is a need to share and exchange knowledge and develop networking, and identifying this need, Faculty of Science and technology of Fatima Jinnah Women University organised a five-day international conference on the issue.

The conference titled ‘Emerging Trends in Science and Technology’ (ICETST) was organised in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) from September 5-9, 2016.

At the concluding ceremony of the conference was chief guest of the ceremony was Minister of State for Federal Education Baligh ur Rehman, and Executive Director, Higher Education Commission, Dr. Arshad Ali attended the ceremony as guest of honour.

Scholars from Russia, US, China, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and Korea as well as from numerous prestigious institutes from all over Pakistan have attended this conference.

During the closing ceremony Baligh ur Rehman and Executive Director HEC inaugurated the Centre for Environmentally Sustainable Transport and Climate Change (CESTAC) which is launched with the collaboration of Ministry of Water & Power and UNDP at FJWU. The focal persons of the center are Dr. Saleem Junja (Country Manager, UNDP) and Dr. Sofia Khalid (FJWU). On the occasion, Dr. Junja said that the basic purpose of establishing this center is to provide consultancies to federal and provincial governments, as well as to drive the polices and involve the academia in research and utilization of their research work.

During the closing ceremony, Faculty of Science and Technology also launched a bi-annual research Journal entitled; “Contemporary Research in Science and Technology”. The focal persons of the journal are Dr. Rohama Gill and Dr. Nargis Bibi from FJWU.
