Highway police crack down on bus operators

The National Highway and Motorway Police have launched a crackdown against inter-city passenger vehicles to penalise them for overloading and fleecing passengers.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, inter-city overcrowded vans and buses were checked at Toll Plaza on the Super Highway over complaints their operators were overcharging passengers.
Bus and van passengers who were forced to pay more for travelling towards their hometowns ahead of Eidul Azha were returned Rs53,400, and buses and vans they were travelling in were fined. The crackdown, ordered by SSP Karamullah Soomro, was welcomed by the affected passengers.
