The head of state should be a unifying and symbolic head, above party politics and government. Unfortunately, our president has no power and plays no role. And for that the nation is paying Rs863 million, which was earmarked in the 2016-2017 budget for the President House for staff salaries, maintenance, grants travelling etc. The question is: what is the justification for such huge expenses every year, when there is no significant role played by the president in the welfare of the people or in defusing political crisis faced by the country?
If we save the money being wasted on useless state and government administrative structure every year, in five years we can provide drinking water to those millions of Pakistanis who have been deprived of it for the last 70 years.
