Man, son and nephew shot dead

SUKKUR: A man, his son and nephew were shot dead in Khairpur. Reports said that armed men riding on a motorcycle intercepted a wagon in Kamaldero on the Larkana-Khairpur bridge and shot dead Ghulam Hussain, his son, Ali Raza, and his nephew, Himath Ali. Another man, Abid Shaikh, sustained injuries in the firing. The assailants managed to escape. Reports said that the relatives of the deceased protested on the Khairpur-Larkana Road.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday notified PML-N’s Raja Matloob Mehdi as returned candidate from NA-63, Jehlum-II in the bye-election held on August 31.

PTI’s sit-in at Raiwind

LAHORE: An application has been filed in the Lahore High Court to stop PTI chief Imran Khan from holding a sit-in at Raiwind. Lawyer AK Dogar moved the application in a main pending petition against 2014 sit in by the PTI. The lawyer said Imran Khan returned to the same situation he had two years ago as he made hateful speeches airing discord and confrontation among different sections of society.He said Khan again started asking the prime minister to step down in the wake of Panama Leaks. Advocate Dogar prayed the court to restrain the PTI chief from launching unconstitutional activity of gherao of Raiwind residence of prime minister or sit in paralysing the system.

 

SC bails out explosives smuggling accused

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday granted bail to Faisal Khan, accused of smuggling explosive material, against a surety bond of Rs 0.1 million. A division bench of the apex court comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan heard the case. During proceedings, the counsel for Khan, apprised the court that there was no evidence against his client. He said his client had joined investigations and was cooperating with the authorities.

 

Bilawal to address public rallies in Punjab this month

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address public rallies across Punjab by the end of September as part of party’s revival campaign. Bilawal Bhutto has already accorded approval to the suggestions of party’s top leadership in this regard, party sources told APP here on Wednesday. They said that Bilawal Bhutto will visit each and every district of Punjab during his stay to address gatherings and highlight the issues of laborers and low income working classes. A precise schedule of the public rallies in both urban and rural Punjab was likely to be announced after Eidul Azha, the sources added. They said that the new organisation of the party in Punjab districts will arrange political gatherings and rallies.

 

Five injured in SWA blast

WANA: Five people were injured in a blast occurring in Rustam Bazaar of Wana in South Waziristan Wednesday.According to security sources, unidentified miscreants planted an explosive material nearby a medical store that exploded with a big bang through remote control. As a result, five persons were injured and one of them critically who was shifted to a nearby hospital. The security forces cordoned off the area.

 

Man shot dead in Lahore

LAHORE: A 60-year-old man was shot dead by two persons in the Hunjarwal area on Wednesday. The victim identified as Daood Khan, son of Mohammad Khan, had migrated from his native town in Khyber Agency and settled in Jamalpura, Hunjarwal, almost 10 years back. On the day of the incident, the victim was standing at a tandoor shop when two unidentified persons came there on a bike and shot at him, as a result, he received fatal wounds. A boy Bilal also sustained a wound in his hand.

 

Dacoit killed in encounter

MULTAN: A dacoit was killed during a police ‘encounter’ at Khakhi Punjani village in Shujabad Town police area on Wednesday. On a tip-off, the police raided the village to arrest most wanted dacoit Asif Wains who was involved in various heinous crimes. The dacoit and his three accomplices opened fire at the police party, which was retaliated. Asif was killed on the spot.
