PESHAWAR: An important commander of the banned militant outfit TTP, Gul Rauf, was killed during a police search and strike operation in Takhtikhel in the limit of Naurang police station in Lakki Marwat on Wednesday.
KP Police spokesman in a statement said Gul Rauf was an important commander of the banned TTP who was killed during an intelligence-based police search and strike operation.
He said Rauf was wanted to the police after he escaped from the Bannu jail. He carried Rs2 million head bounty.
The terrorist was wanted by the police in over 30 bomb explosions, murder, dacoities, kidnappings for ransom and robbery related cases, he said.
He was involved in cases of robbery and dacoity on the Indus Highway by wearing security forces uniform, the spokesman added. One SMG, three hand grenades and one mobile was recovered from the terrorist.
