Quetta Gladiators pick another eight players
KARACHI: The first half of the initial phase of Quetta Gladiators’ U23 Talent Hunt Programme “Your Gateway to Stardom” finished at the Bugti Stadium in Quetta as selectors picked up eight players on day three.
The total count stands now at 46 going into second-half of the initial phase which takes place in Hub on September 7-8.
As many as 24 players were selected on day one and 14 and eight on day two and three, respectively.
Around 1500 players turned up at the trials across the three days from Quetta, Dera Murad Jamali, districts of Pishin, Nushki, Loralai, Qilla-e-Abdullah, Kalat, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Khuzdar, Sibbi and other remote areas of Balochistan.
Chief selector Zafar Ahmad, who worked with local selectors Aqil Baloch, Javed Iqbal and Abdul Qudoos, said their final target was to name 50 players for the final phase.
Zafar added that Gladiators’ owner Nadeem Omar, Head Coach Moin Khan and the final phase selection committee, which included Iqbal Qasim (Director) and Saleem Jaffar, would be impressed with the shortlisted players.
