Man poisons wife to death
LAHORE
A mother of two was allegedly poisoned to death by her husband in the Factory Area Police jurisdiction on Monday.
Police said Reena, a resident of Punjab Society, had some domestic issues with her husband Ahmed and she had taken poisonous pills. Ahmed shifted her to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. Police have arrested deceased’s husband Ahmed on the application of Reena’s brother and mother. They alleged Reena was poisoned to death. Police have shifted the body to morgue.

DIG operations directed all the divisional SPs to start a crackdown against drug dealers on daily basis. SP Model Town Ismael Kharak constituted special teams of every police station. SHO Garden Town Khursheed Ahmed arrested drug dealer Asif Masih from Canal link road and recovered 360 bottles of liquor. SP has announced cash prize for SHO Garden Town and his team.
FOUND DEAD: A 50-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Bhati Gate Police on Monday.Police have shifted the body to City morgue. Police said the deceased yet to be identified was apparently a drug addict. It was suspected that the cause of death was overdose of drugs.
HIT TO DEATH: An 18-year-old youth was trampled to death by a tractor trolley in the Sabzazar Police limits on Monday.Police said that deceased was identified as Waqas Masih. He was riding a bike when a trolley hit him. He died on spot. Police have shifted the body to morgue and arrested the accused driver.
workshop: On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, to ensure the provision of timely police version, factual information of any occurred incident, establishment of constant liaison with the media and for better media strategy, up-gradation process of DPR branch in CPO is going on and in this regard the first training workshop was held at Central Police Office, Lahore, Monday.
All 46 PROs of Punjab Police across the province attended the workshop. Additional IGP Operations/Investigation Punjab, Capt (R) Arif Nawaz, DIG Operations Punjab, Amir Zulfiqar, AIG Operations, Shehzada Sultan and other senior officers of Control Room delivered talk to the participants regarding the media strategy. The PROs were also guided to keep a strong and professional coordination with media to provide actual facts and authentic information to the public through media. This will help in highlighting the dedicated services of the police as well.
DIG Operations told the PROs in detail about the SOPs already issued by IGP about the media strategy and its implementation.
He also told them that they had to utilise all their professional skills and capability for the positive image building of the department as they were the eyes and ears of the police department in their respective districts. They were also briefed about the maximum utilisation of social and digital media.
