Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah left Karachi for Dubai on Saturday for meeting the top leadership of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party.
According to sources privy to the affair, he left for Dubai to meet PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Shah would likely discuss with them the functioning of the party’s provincial government facing administrative, legal and fiscal challenges, they said, adding that the meeting would also focus on a number of well-reputed and competent government officers awaiting postings for a long time to discharge responsibilities.
The meeting in Dubai is likely to discuss in detail the performance of members of the new cabinet working and issues related to the targeted operation being conducted in Karachi against terrorists and criminals.
The CM will return to Karachi on Monday. This is the second time he has left for Dubai after becoming the new chief executive of the province. Earlier, Shah visited Dubai on July 31 soon after his oath-taking to become the chief minister that was held on 29 July.
Then, he had met the co-chairman of the party, Asif Ali Zardari, in Dubai and returned to Karachi in a few hours without any protocol to start discharging his official responsibilities on August 1, which was the first weekday of the working of provincial government after his oath-taking.
On August 1, the chief minister had commenced his first working day at 9am by visiting his office in the Sindh Secretariat.
Murad meets Ebad
Earlier on Friday night, the CM met Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan at the Governor House where both leaders discussed in detail development and security affairs of the province.
According to a handout issued by the Governor House, both the authorities discussed security measures to be adopted across the province on the upcoming festive occasion of Eidul Azha.
They reviewed the security arrangements adopted in this regard and agreed that the code of ethics had to be observed in all circumstances for the collection of hides of sacrificial animals.
The governor and the chief minister shared views on the pace of development works being carried out in the province and held out the consensus opinion that such projects should be completed at the earliest as the foremost priority for providing basic civic facilities to the masses.
Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan was quoted in the handout as saying that the completion of major development projects in Karachi would ensure the provision of the best civic and utility services to the people of the city.
The major projects being completed in and around the city include K-IV Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme, Lyari Expressway, M-9 Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, S-III sewerage disposal system and Green Line and Orange Line, being a component of Bus Rapid Transit Service.
He called upon the provincial government to adopt a strategy for the completion of the development projects at the earliest without any
lapse of time along with due observance of quality and standard in the construction process.
Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said that such projects should be designed and completed in such a manner that they should remain valid for use by the general public for a longer period of time.
