COAS, Imran meet in Mardan for 10 minutes
MARDAN: The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan held a brief meeting in Mardan where a suicide bomber had killed at least 13 people outside a local court on Friday.
The two high-ups met at the helipad in the Mardan Cantonment and briefly exchanged views about the Friday’s terrorist attacks in Mardan and Peshawar. The army chief and Imran condemned the attacks and expressed their resolve to go to any extent to eliminate militancy and terrorism.
According to sources of a private TV channel, the COAS and the PTI chief agreed upon eliminating the scourge of terrorism.General Raheel and Imran also discussed the current situation of the country. Sources said that the meeting continued for 10 minutes. They said that General Raheel and Imran Khan discussed the Operation Zarb-e-Azb as well.
The COAS was flanked by Corps Commander, Peshawar, whereas Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak accompanied the PTI chief.Later, talking to the media, Imran Khan said he met the army chief after he landed in the city. He condemned the terror strike in Mardan and said militants are foreign funded and disrupting peace in Pakistan. He said it was the need of the hour to mobilise the Foreign Ministry and present Pakistan’s message to the world in a suitable manner.
