PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan on Friday condemned the suicide bombings in Mardan district courts and Christian Colony in Peshawar.
Expressing grief over the killings, the ANP chief offered fateha for the eternal peace of the victims. In a press statement issued here, he said that nation could not get rid of the menace of terrorism until and unless those at the helm of the affairs review the country’s internal and external policies.
Lashing out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the ANP leader said the provincial government had left the poor masses at the mercy of the terrorists while it was being busy in a turf war for Lahore and Islamabad. He lamented that the eradication of terrorism was not even a priority of the incumbent provincial government. He said that it was high time to root out terrorists from the country once and for all.
Asfandyar Wali said that across- the- board action should be taken against all terror outfits, terrorists and their facilitators as well as sympathisers.
He also criticised the federal government for failing to implement the 20-point National Action Plan (NAP) in letter and spirit. Advising the federal government, the ANP chief said that implementation of NAP was the only option available to the government to establish peace in the country.
He added that people were tired of shouldering any more funerals of their beloved family members. Recalling the sacrifices rendered by the activists and workers of the ANP in the fight against terrorism, Asfandyar said that it was the commitment of ANP government that Malakand division was purged of militants during its five-year-rule in the province.
