National Women Volleyball c’ship from today
KARACHI: The 12th National Women Volleyball Championship will begin here at the KPT Sports Complex on Thursday (today).
Sindh Volleyball Association (SVA) said on Wednesday that the opening game of the event would be held between Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) at 4pm.
Chairman Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Admiral Shafqat Javed will grace the opening ceremony.
Teams of the four provinces, Army, holders WAPDA, Higher Education Commission (HEC) and AJK will be fighting for the top honours.
The eight teams have been bracketed in two groups.
The Group A carries WAPDA, Sindh, AJK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while HEC, Army, Balochistan and Punjab are in the Group B.
Two teams from each group will move into the semi-finals which will be held on September 3. The final will be conducted on September 4.
In the other outings on Thursday, AJK will face Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan will meet Punjab, WAPDA will lock horns with KP, HEC will clash with Army and Army will lock horns with Balochistan.
