Islamabad: A large influx of tourists, mostly residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas, was seen in Murree on Saturday and Sunday.
The hill station attracted crowds over the weekend after a heavy rain lashed the plain areas, especially the twin cities.
Pindi Point, Kashmir Point, the Mall and Ayubia were the main attractions for visitors.
Murree’s adjoining areas like Galyaat, Bhurban, Ayubia and Nathiagali also attracted large crowds of tourists.
Many youths used motorcycles to reach Murree, which is an hour’s drive from the capital city.
Local hotels reported a surge in bookings. However, tourists complained the hotels, especially those on The Mall, overcharged them but the administration was indifferent to their misery.
Traffic jams were also seen on The Mall, at GPO Chowk and on Kuldanna Road mainly due to wrong parking of vehicles.
