Accountability should start with PM: Siraj
Says Zardari, Imran, others can be held accountable after premier
RAWALPINDI: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that corrupt rulers had deprived the masses of the fruits of the creation of Pakistan.
Addressing a huge rally, marking the Foundation Day of the JI in Multan on Friday, Sirajul Haq said that the masses were asking the rulers how they had amassed so much wealth, media reports said.
In response, he said the politicians who had palaces in London and Dubai were telling the masses to stop talking of accountability as it would endanger democracy. He said that accountability should start with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, then there should be turn of Asif Zardari, Imran Khan and others.
However, he said, the JI was determined to recover every penny of the public money from the corrupt rulers, adding that it had also moved the Supreme Court for the purpose. Earlier, the JI chief led the Takmeel-e-Pakistan march from ‘AAm Khas Bagh’ to the Katchery Chowk which was joined by thousands of people.
He said that as and when the country faced difficult times the rulers fled from the country while the poor masses were ready to shed their blood for the homeland. Lashing out at MQM founder, the JI chief said that the MQM leader had been playing the role of Mir Jaafer and Mir Sadiq in London and he had challenged those who had offered their lives at the time of the creation of Pakistan, demanding of Britain to hand over Altaf Husain to Pakistan for trial.
Sirajul Haq said that the plight of the masses in the country could not improve unless the plunderers were jailed. He said the rulers wanted the masses to pay taxes and utilities bills so that they (rulers) could live in luxuries. The rulers had least respect for the constitution, he said.
