All set for LG reserved seats in Chakwal

CHAKWAL: All the arrangements have been finalised for holding LG elections on reserved seats in the district on September 1.
There are 15 special seats for women, three for peasants, one for youth, one for technocrat and four for minorities in the district council. Total 71 members of the district council will elect candidates for the special seats. The 37-member Chakwal Municipal Committee will elect five women, two peasants, one youth and two minority members. The Choa Saidan Shah Municipal Committee will elect two women, one peasant, one youth and one minority member. Seven general councillors will exercise their right of vote. The 12-member Talagang Municipal Committee will elect three women, one peasant, one youth and one minority member. The Kalar Kahar Municipal Committee will elect one woman, one peasant, one youth and one minority member. The Bhaun Municipal Committee will elect one woman, one peasant, one youth and one minority member. The Lawa Municipal Committee will elect two women, one peasant, one youth and one minority seat. Eleven general councillors of the municipal committee will elect the candidates on the reserved seats.
All the four candidates, who have filed nomination papers for four minorities seats, have been elected unopposed.
Meanwhile, District Election Commissioner Sardar Mazhar Hussain said that all arrangements had been completed. He said that the polling scheme would be finalised by District Returning Officer Mehmood Javed Bhatti.
