ISLAMABAD: The September 8, 1965 was the day when the Pakistan Navy launched its successful strategic operation against India, codename Operation Dwarka, by the 25th Destroyer Squadron.
The Operation Dwarka, also known as “Operation Somnath”, was a naval operation commenced by the Pakistan Navy to attack the Indian coastal town of Dwarka on 7th September, 1965.
The Pakistan Navy calls the day as the ‘victorious day’ because the aggression of Pakistan Navy in the Indian territory resulted in a huge loss to Indians.
The Pakistan Navy launched this operation to destroy the latest radar systems of India installed in the town Dwarka and this objective was achieved by the navy. That is why every year the entire nation celebrates 8th September as the Youm-e-Bahria with passion and enthusiasm, a private news channel reported.
This was the first use of Pakistan Navy in any of the Indo-Pakistan wars.
The Pakistan Navy celebrates this day to tell the young generation of Pakistan that how brave sailors were at a critical time and proudly offered sacrifices for the defence of Pakistan.
On 6th, 7th and 8th September 1965, the nation remembers and pays tributes to those who sacrificed their precious lives for the country and they are the source of inspiration while defending the country against any aggressor.
