Punjab is completing verification of computerised micro-plans in 10 districts where polio eradication campaign will be held from 29th of August to 31st of August to confirm existing data about children under five years of age, Adviser to Chief Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said here Thursday.

The supplementary national immunisation days being held in Rawalpindi, Multan, Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Bhakkar and Mianwali will be synchronised with campaign in other three provinces, he said.

Pakistan is getting ever closer to achieving its target of eradicating polio from the country through exemplary coordination and collaboration of federal and provincial governments at political and administrative level.

To ascertain and validate the existing data about children under five years of age, health departments of all the provincial governments are undertaking an exercise to register children under five years of age in various UCs.

The government officials from department like community health workers and monitors are assigned to ensure all houses and children will be reached when the vaccination campaign begins on 29th of August, Khawaja Salman added.

The primary and secondary healthcare department has requested parents to cooperate with these visiting community health workers from local government facilities.

This valuable contribution from the parents and community elders will help us to determine the exact numbers of children under five years of age in each of these UCs and ensure that no child is left behind in the upcoming vaccination campaigns against polio.

These polio workers are carrying their official identity cards and parents are also encouraged to ask for their identification once they knock at their door,” he added.
