Corps commanders meet in GHQ

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, on Tuesday chaired a meeting of corps commanders in which the ongoing operation against the terrorists was reviewed.
The meeting also took stock of the internal and external security situation, including the ongoing and future operations against terrorism in the country.
A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said an exhaustive review of professional matters was also carried out in the meeting held at the General Headquarters (GHQ).
Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Maj. Gen. Aamer Riaz took the conference into confidence on his talks on security matters with the Afghan authorities in Kabul held recently.
The meeting also reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary which has been tense for the past two months due to unprovoked firing by the Indian forces.
Army chief General Raheel Sharif expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved in the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan and said the operation would continue till the complete elimination of terrorism.
The conference reviewed professional matters and internal and external security situation in addition to the ongoing and future operations against terrorism.
It expressed confidence over the professional preparations of the Pakistan Army.
The conference was held just two days after Pakistan celebrated the Defence Day during which the army chief said the military was capable of responding to any internal or external threat.
