Sultan wins Gwadar off-road car rally
KARACHI: Sahibzada Sultan won Gwadar Off-road Car Rally held in Gwadar from August 19-21.
According to the results received here on Tuesday, Sahibzada completed 147-km track in 1:39:36 in category ‘A’ prepared to win the race.
Talha Raees Baloch stood second with 1:48:29 and Fakhar Abbas Mahay clinched the third position with 1:52:05.
Sahibzada also won Cholistan Rally earlier this year. Ronie Patel who stood second in Cholistan had to be content with the fourth position with 2:06:011.
Nadir Magsi, who topped the qualifying round, faced the similar problem he came across in Cholistan as he could not finish the race due to problem in his vehicle’s engine.
It is worth adding here that the route map had been revised and complete distance had been reduced to 147 km from 165 kms.
In category B stock, Tariq Hussain Magsi won the race with timing of 1:44:20, while Mansoor Ali stood second with 1:54:45 and Omer Soomro claimed third position with 1:55:05.
In category B prepared, Zain Mahmood claimed the first position with 1:34:02 and Faisal Hassan Khan stood second with the timing of 1:36:13.
Jafar Magsi clinched the third position with the timing of 1:40:00.
In category B stock, Qadir Nawaz Sangi clinched the first position with the timing of 1:46:51 and Malik Bilal Ashiq stood second with the timing of 1:50:27.
Amer Magsi clinched the third position with the timing of 1:53:39.
In category C prepared, Gohar Alam Sangi got the first position with the timing of 1:43:44.
Asif Afzal stood second with the timing of 1:48:07 and Mohammad Aoun claimed the third position with the timing of 4:14:55.
In category C stock, Sultan Aziz stood first with the timing of 2:00:12 and Hasan Sadiq stood second with the timing of 2:21:10.
Abdul Rehman Joyia finished the race of Category D prepared in 5:59:58 to win it, while the race of category D stock won by Saeed Shahwani with timing of 3:00:49.
It is pertinent to mention that the Gwadar off-road rally was resumed after a gap of seven years. It was first scheduled in March this year but heavy rains in the area delayed it.
The rally was discontinued in 2008 due to security issues. It had been held annually from 2005 to 2008.
