ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) always dishonoured the promises it made to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), declared former president of the country and co-Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari here on Saturday. He also blamed his erstwhile ally the MQM for cheating the PPP. He said it was beneath the dignity of Altaf Hussain to indulge in a blame-game against the PPP. Zardari took strong notice of MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s recent remarks. He said: “Altaf Hussain should avoid making unnecessary remarks about others.” The MQM chief had accused Zardari of cheating the MQM twice during his previous tenure. Zardari claimed the PPP had always honoured all promises and commitments made to the MQM whether it was on the federal or provincial level. “It was the MQM that deceived and cheated the PPP,” Zardari added. He said during the negotiations with the MQM, the PPP always insisted that no division of Sindh would be accepted. The PPP also sought the MQM’s cooperation in restoring peace in Karachi. The PPP always stood firm on the issue of the unity of Sindh and made it clear that no division of Sindh would ever be acceptable, he asserted. Zardari advised the MQM to shun negative politics as it would not benefit from it. “It is time that the MQM spend its energies on the progress and prosperity of Sindh and the country,”he added.
